Investigation into Male Found Deceased at 5500 Community Drive

Houston police are investigating the death of a male at 5500 Community Drive about 6:45 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 16).The identity of the male and his cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. Burrow and R. Watson reported:Officers and paramedics responded to a person down call next to the railroad tracks at the above address in the town of West University Place.  Railroad authorities had called 911 after one of their engineers spotted a body near the tracks. Homicide detectives responded to the scene because the deceased male had obvious signs of blunt force trauma, but there were no reports made with railroad authorities regarding a train-pedestrian collision.  Investigators obtained area surveillance footage and observed the male walked to the location alone and lied down next to the tracks for approximately 45 minutes before being struck by some part of a train.  Investigators are still working to determine whether the incident was a suicide or accidental.Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.JFC/VHS   1-17-23Inc #007679223
