Houston police are investigating the sexual assault and stabbing of a woman found at 8201 Broadway about 11 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 2).
The victim, 20, suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers G. Black and S. Ragsdale reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing call at an apartment at the above address. Upon arrival, they learned the female had been found near a dumpster by paramedics, who transported her to an area hospital.
Investigators interviewed the victim, who told them she had been hanging out in the washateria of an apartment complex in the 7900 block of Moerly when she was approached by a black male suspect. The two began talking and then went to a vacant apartment. Once inside, the woman was sexually assaulted. Upon getting away, the woman walked to the 8200 block of Broadway where she climbed into a dumpster and, distraught over the sexual assault, began stabbing herself. After harming herself, she climbed out of the dumpster and collapsed nearby.
