Houston police are investigating an incident in which HPD officers fatally shot an armed suspect at 7910 Lane Street about 12:40 a.m. today (April 27).
The suspect is identified as Christopher Aguirre (H/m, 28).
The HPD Northeast Patrol Division officers who discharged their duty weapons were not injured in the incident.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives I. Ulloa, J. Brown, R. Lujan M. Resnick and G. Rodgers reported:
HPD Northeast Patrol Division officers responded to a suspicious person with a weapon call at the above address. The officers were advised the male caller stated he had his gun loaded and was ready for officers. The call-taker also heard gunshots being fired as the call came in.
Officers arrived at the above address and saw a Hispanic male, later identified as Aguirre, standing in the front yard of the residence, firing his weapon recklessly into the air, ground and neighborhood. Officers cautiously set up a perimeter around Aguirre and gave him verbal commands to drop the weapon. As officers continued to get into position, Aguirre fired his pistol in the direction of officers and nearby neighbors. Aguirre then made a suddenly pointed his pistol in the direction of officers and fired. Three officers returned fire and struck Aguirre, who fell to the ground. Officers then cautiously approached the suspect and found him unresponsive. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
