Houston police are investigating an incident in which a male suspect became unresponsive at 11907 Pompton Drive about 9:15 p.m. on Monday (May 7).
The male, 38, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in critical condition.
HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit Detectives E. Contreras, R. Gonzales and M. Glover reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a burglary of a motor vehicle call at the above address, where a male (suspect) was behaving erratically and destroying property in the neighborhood. Officers arrived and found the suspect being detained by residents outside a house. As officers took the male into custody, he became combative and began kicking on the back seat and partition of the patrol vehicle. Officers placed the suspect in leg restraints and he suffered a medical episode. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported the suspect to the hospital, where he was found to have narcotics in his system.
As is customary in incidents when a suspect becomes unresponsive in the presence of HPD personnel, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
