Houston police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred at 1400 Gears Road about 8:45 p.m. on January 17.
The female victim, Carolyn Sanders, 57, was transported to an area hospital in a stable condition. A photo of Ms. Sanders is attached to this news release.
HPD vehicular Crimes Division Officer A. Gomez reported:
Ms. Sanders was crossing the street from the south to the north near the above address when the driver of a white SUV of unknown make and model, traveling westbound on Gears Road, struck Sanders as she attempted to cross the street. The suspect exited the vehicle and moved Sanders off the roadway and onto the sidewalk. The suspect then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene without rendering medical assistance. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to the hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect is described only as an older black male, about 5 feet nine inches tall, heavy set, with gray hair and a gray mustache.
