| Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 8807 Leycrest about 3:05 p.m. on Wednesday (January 31).
One victim, Casey Cabaniss, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The wounded male, Richard Cabaniss, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Crowder and N. Sharp reported:
Casey and Richard Cabaniss were at a gas station at the above address when they were approached by a male suspect wearing all black clothing. The suspect shot them several times. A relative of the victims drove them both to a family member's home nearby and then called 9-1-1. Both men were transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital.
The suspect, who is described only as a black male, ran and got into the passenger seat of a black or dark-colored Kia sedan that fled northbound on Mesa Road.
