Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another male at 8700 Woodway Drive about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday (June 10).
The identity of the deceased male, in his early to mid-30s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Robert and Detective L. Lange reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address and found a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Officers then located a second male at an adjoining apartment complex with a gunshot wound. He was also transported by paramedics to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation determined the surviving male confronted two male suspects burglarizing his garage. One of the suspects then shot the male, who returned fire and struck one of the suspects multiple times. Both suspects fled the scene. One suspect (deceased) collapsed in the parking lot where he was located and transported to the hospital. The second suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
