Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8524 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8524 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 3:45 a.m. today (October 13).  

The identity of the victim, believed to be in his 20s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Wilson and Detectives M. Castillo, M. Nicotra and K. Clark reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a gas station at the above address and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim is the owner of a food truck and a male suspect attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint.  During the robbery, a scuffle ensued, during which the victim was shot multiple times.  The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described only as a black or Hispanic male wearing all black.
