Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8018 Chateau Street

The fatal shooting of a man at 8018 Chateau Street about 10:55 p.m. last Friday (February 10) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, 67, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 58, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detective G. Zavala reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and found a male lying just inside the front entrance.  He had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers immediately began medical treatment, however, he was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Further investigation determined the deceased male had gotten into a family violence disturbance with his current girlfriend, who decided to leave the residence.  When two of the girlfriend’s family members arrived to help her leave, one of the family members and the male got into a verbal argument.  The male then fired a shot into the ground at the family member, who took cover behind a parked vehicle before returning fire at the male, who was struck in the leg.  Another witness at the scene then called 9-1-1.

After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined this case would be presented to a grand jury for review.
