The fatal shooting of a man at 7900 Rockhill Street about 11:15 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 26) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male, believed to be 18 to 23 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective A. Ferrell reported: Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and observed an unresponsive male on the sidewalk. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and paramedic pronounced the man deceased at the scene. Another male was on the scene and called 9-1-1 after the shooting. He told detectives he conducted a drug transaction with the man when the man attempted to rob him and another friend inside a vehicle. The male stated the man shot at him and grazed him in the left cheek. The male said he grabbed the gun from the man, got out of the car and attempted to hold the man at gunpoint when the man charged at him with a knife. The male then fired multiple shots at the man. The friend inside the vehicle was not injured. Detectives consulted with members of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, who advised the incident would be referred to a grand jury.
