Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7100 Cullen Boulevard that occurred about 9:10 a.m. today (October 7).
The identity of the victim, believed to be between 30 and 40 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Crowder and A. Vinogradov reported:
The victim was changing a tire on his vehicle with the help of two acquaintances when an unknown suspect came up behind and assaulted one of the acquaintances and then shot the victim in the stomach. The victim attempted to run from the scene and was chased by the suspect, who assaulted him and then shot him in the head. The suspect then removed items from the victim’s pockets and fled the scene on foot westbound on Faulkner Street.
According to witness statements, the suspect may have seen the victim with money and robbery is believed to be a motive at this time.
The suspect is described only as a black male, 25 to 30 years of age, between 190 and 220 pounds with braids.
