Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6943 Chasewood Drive

The fatal shooting of a man at 6943 Chasewood Drive about 12:05 a.m. on Saturday (September 7) will be referred to a Fort Bend County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, believed to be 40 to 50 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 56, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Hale and A. Ledford reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and learned a male (shooter) asked another male (tenant) if he could charge his phone in his apartment.  At some point, the tenant told the male he was going to charge him a cost for doing so.  The men began to argue about the payment and then went outside.  While the men were outside, a gunshot was heard and the tenant ran back inside the apartment and collapsed.  The shooter ran to a nearby residence where he stayed until additional officers arrived.  He was detained a short time later without incident.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the wounded male deceased.

The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and determined the case will be reviewed by a grand jury to determine if charges will be filed.
