Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a juvenile male in the 6300 block of Costa Mesa Street about 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday (April 10).
The identity of the victim, 16, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant. J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call to a residence near the above address (in unincorporated Fort Bend County) and located a male unresponsive in the backyard of a home. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.
Detectives were advised the victim had a brief encounter with an unknown male suspect driving a red or maroon, four-door sedan with tinted windows on Costa Mesa Drive. During this encounter, detectives believe the driver of the sedan and the victim began shooting at one another. The victim ran and jumped a fence into the backyard of the home where he was located.
The motive for the shooting and a suspect description is unknown at this time.
