Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6100 Main Street

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and the apparent suicide of a man found at 6100 Main Street about 4 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 26).

The identities of the deceased female victim, 21, and male suspect, 22, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Vaughn and R. Waterwall reported:

Rice University police officers responded to a welfare check call in a campus dormitory room of the Jones College at the above address. The officers entered the room and found the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound, and the suspect, who sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced the two deceased at the scene. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Investigators learned the victim and suspect were involved in a dating relationship.
