Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of two men that occurred at 5959 Guhn Road about 12:20 a.m. on Saturday (April 11).
The identity of the male victims, 29 and 26, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Officer K. Heaverlo reported:
Officers responded to a shooting at the above address and while en route to the location, officers saw a dark-colored vehicle, with the rear window shot out, crashed at a nearby location. Officers then noticed a black male, slumped over behind the steering wheel. They forced entry into the vehicle, pulled the man out and provided medical assistance. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased from a gunshot wound.
Other responding officers drove directly to address on Guhn Road and found a Hispanic male victim lying on the third floor hallway, also suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Witnesses stated there had been a verbal altercation between two groups of friends at the motel at the above address. At some point, one person from each group began firing at the other group. Multiple persons of interest were detained at the scene and questioned.
One person admitted to shooting but stated he did so in self defense. That shooting incident is being referred to a Harris County grand jury. A second shooting suspect remains at-large.
