The fatal shooting of a male and the wounding of another male at 5712 South Gessner Road about 5:55 a.m. on Monday (March 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Detective D. Arnold reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a nightclub at the above address and found two adult males who had been shot. One male was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The second male was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
A preliminary investigation indicated prior to a disturbance occurred inside the club and the two males were removed by security guards. As the males entered the parking lot, the incident escalated and one of the males produced a pistol from his waistband. The male pointed the pistol in the direction of the security guards. Fearing for their safety, both security guards discharged their weapons, striking both men.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and determined the case would be referred to a grand jury for review.
