The fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 5608 North Shepherd Drive about 2:55 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 25) will likely be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The suspect, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Roberts and T. Jackson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in-progress call at a night club at the above address. Investigators later learned the suspect and another individual got into a confrontation while inside the club. The suspect then left the club, went to his vehicle, and retrieved a handgun. He then began shooting aimlessly while attempting to re-enter the club.
A uniformed security guard and another man, seeing the suspect firing the handgun, returned fire, striking him (suspect) multiple times. No other individuals were wounded. Investigators have questioned the security guard and witnesses about this case.
