Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 5000 Westheimer Road about 6:10 p.m. on Thursday (January 16).
The identity of the victim, believed to be in his 30s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson reported:
People reported hearing gunshots near the above address and called 9-1-1. A short time later, officers responded to a stand-alone emergency room in the 5000 block of San Felipe Road regarding an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds. According to witnesses, the male was brought by private vehicle to the emergency room. Doctors later pronounced the man deceased.
The suspect is described only as a black male in his 20s, wearing a green hoodie. A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect shot the victim in the parking lot of one of the businesses at the Westheimer address. The motive appears to be robbery.
