Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4045 Linkwood Drive about 12:50 a.m. today (Feb. 23).
The identity of the victim, 24, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet reported:
The victim called 911 to report that suspects were trying to steal his vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address. The call-taker then heard gunshots. HPD patrol officers responded to the scene and found the victim deceased in the back of the complex.
One witness heard two gunshots, went outside, and heard two more gunshots. The witness then observed a black male, dressed in all-black clothing, running from the scene. Another witness saw a male run into the passenger side of a red vehicle and flee the scene.
