The fatal shooting of one robbery suspect and the wounding of another at 4 Maxey Road about 1:30 a.m. today (May 6) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased juvenile male suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A second juvenile suspect, 16, also sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
The male shooter was not injured.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Detective T. Andrade reported:
A convenience store employee locked the front door of the store at the above address to clean the common area when two unknown suspects came to the front door and started pulling on it. The employee retreated to the cashier area and locked himself inside.
One suspect managed to break through the front door and went after the employee in an attempt to rob the store. The employee then shot both suspects. One died at the scene, while the other suspect fled and was taken into custody in the area by responding HPD officers. He was determined to have a gunshot wound and transported by paramedics to the hospital.
Two other suspects, described only as juveniles, are believed to be at large in a vehicle described only as a dark-colored BMW.
