Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 3819 Fondren Road about 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 21).
The identity of the victim, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass reported: Officers responded to a call of a male found deceased behind the business at the above address. The man had suffered a gunshot wound. Detectives learned the man, believed to be homeless, was sleeping on the ground when an unknown suspect walked up and approached the man. The suspect then shot the victim and ran northbound toward Westpark Drive. The suspect is described only as a dark skinned young male, 18 to 25 years of age. He has a thin build and is under 6 feet tall. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, light gray jogger pants and white shoes. He was carrying a black backpack with straps over each shoulder.
