Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 3738 Faulkner Street that occurred about 1:45 a.m. today (August 8).
The identity of the victim, 21, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and M. Holbrook and Detective A. Ferrell reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found the victim had been shot multiple times in the upper torso. The victim was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation revealed the victim had been walking back from the corner store when the suspect, described only as a black female, 18 to 22 years of age, ambushed the victim. The suspect had hidden between parked cars and, as the victim walked by, the suspect jumped out and began shooting. The suspect then fled the scene eastbound on Faulkner Street toward Scott Street in a red Nissan Cube or small four-door sedan.
