Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 302 West 23rd Street about 1:30 a.m. today (March 4).
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Pemberton and S. Spivey reported:
The victim and suspect were attending a party at a residence at the above address when the victim put on a bullet proof vest. At some point, the suspect shot the victim in the chest and then fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.
The suspect was taken into custody today without incident after being treated at an area hospital for a medical issue. Following questioning, investigators will contact the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine what charge will be filed.
NOTE: No other information is available at this time. The suspect’s identity and charge information will not be available until tomorrow morning (Monday, March 5).
