Houston police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide incident at 2417 Jamestown Mall about 1 a.m. today (April 1).
The identities of the female victim and male suspect, both 34, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported:
Officers were dispatched to a welfare check call at an apartment at the above address. Family and friends of the couple who resided in the apartment told officers they made entry into the apartment after they had not heard from the couple since about 1 a.m. on Sunday (March 31). The friends and family discovered the male and female unresponsive inside the apartment. Both had suffered a gunshot wound(s). Paramedics pronounced the two deceased.
The female (victim) and male (suspect) were common-law married. The preliminary investigation indicates the male shot the female and then himself.
The investigation is continuing.
