Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another man at 2017 Main Street about 10:35 p.m. last Friday (March 12).
The identity of the deceased victim, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The other victim, 19, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Escobar and C. LaFour reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in a parking lot of the business at the above address and were advised that a group of individuals on electric scooters approached another group of people in a parked vehicle. It is believed there was a disturbance between the two groups. During the confrontation, someone began shooting a rifle into the group, striking a man. It is believed one male returned fire and then fled the scene on foot.
Paramedics arrived and transported one victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. While on the scene, officers learned a second victim was located near the 1800 block of Fannin Street. He was also taken to the hospital.
There is no known suspect description at this time.
