The death of a man that occurred at 13110 North Bellaire Estates Drive about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday (May 19) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity and cause of death of the male suspect, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Roberts, B. Rothberg and J. Escobar reported:
Officers responded to a shooting at the residence at the above address and found the suspect inside suffering from both gunshot wounds and apparent self-inflicted stab wounds. The suspect was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Further investigation determined the suspect, armed with a handgun, forced entry into the residence and was confronted by the homeowner. A struggle ensued, during which the homeowner was able to obtain the gun from the suspect. The suspect was then shot multiple times. After the shooting, the suspect obtained a knife from inside the home and stabbed himself multiple times.
The homeowner was not injured in the incident.
