The fatal shooting of a man at 12515 Cooperstown Drive about 11:40 p.m. on Monday (April 11) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet reported: HPD patrol officers responded to a home invasion call at the above address. A man told officers he shot a male who forced his way into the home occupied by a woman, 65. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. The homeowner told officers the deceased male forced his way into her home while she was asleep and went into her bedroom. She said she retrieved a pistol and the male walked out of the home. The woman then called a family member who lived nearby. She said the male returned to her home and she held him at gunpoint until the family member arrived. The family member, 40, told officers he confronted the male. When the male lunged at him, the family member stated he shot the male. After detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the incident would be referred to a grand jury. SOA/JFC 4-13-22 Inc. #048001322
