| The fatal shooting of a woman at 11911 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 5 p.m. on Monday (July 1) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The victim, Sybil Collins, 27, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Brown and C. Sharp reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and found a security guard had fatally shot Ms. Collins.
A preliminary investigation determined Collins’ sister had summoned the security guard to the apartment. According to the sister, Collins had a medical history and was damaging the inside of the apartment with a hammer while young children were inside. The security guard attempted to calm Collins and escorted one of the children out of the apartment. When he returned to remove the other two children, Collins struck him with a baseball bat. The security guard then shot Collins. Paramedics pronounced her deceased.
