Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 11400 East Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 11400 East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) about 10:45 p.m. last Friday (Aug. 20).

The identity of the victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective M. Perez reported:

A Jacinto City police officer was flagged down at a business parking lot in the 11800 block of the East Freeway service road and was told the victim was shot while he was driving eastbound on the freeway in the city limits of Houston.  Witnesses stated a white passenger car pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle in the 11400 block of the East Freeway main lanes and someone inside the white car began shooting into the victim’s SUV.  The victim was struck at least one time.

Two juvenile males – 8 and 6 years of age – were inside the victim’s vehicle at the time of the shooting and managed to steer the car into a strip center business parking lot.  They were not injured.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
