Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male found at 10900 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday (June 25).
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Perez and J. Campbell reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found two males standing outside a dark blue SUV. Officers learned from the males that they, along with the victim, were driving home and happened to turn into an apartment complex at 12221 Redford Street. Officers were told by the males as they were driving through the complex a male suspect fired shots at them. The males drove away and, as they exited the complex, the back seat passenger (victim) told the men he had been struck by the gunfire.
The driver of the vehicle took the victim to a nearby 24-hour emergency room where the victim was pronounced deceased. Officers recovered casings in three parking lots of the apartment complex.
The suspect is described only as a black male.
