Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 10680 Westbrae Parkway

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 10680 Westbrae Parkway about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday (August 31).

The identity of the victim, 90, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault in progress with a weapon call at an independent living community at the above address and  found a man with gunshot wounds lying in the parking lot.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined the man was at his vehicle and was approached by an unknown male suspect who assaulted him.  The suspect shot the victim and took his belongings.  The suspect then took the victim’s vehicle and struck him as he fled the scene.  The vehicle was later recovered at an apartment complex in the 12500 block of Dunlap Street.

The suspect is described only as a black male, believed to 25 to 30 years of age.
