Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 10501 Beechnut Street

The fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 10501 Beechnut Street about 3 a.m. on Sunday (April 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased man, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

A second male, 27, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Montalvo and D. Higgs reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down/assault call at the intersection near the above address and found two males with gunshot wounds lying in the street.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported both males to area hospitals, where one of them was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined an altercation occurred in the street between two persons in a silver Chevrolet Impala and the two males in a truck.  Detectives identified two persons in the Impala and obtained statements from them regarding the incident.  The individuals turned in the pistol used in the shooting.

After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the case would be reviewed by a grand jury.

Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
