Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and a man found at 1007 Van Buren Street about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 25).
The identities of the deceased female, 29, and male, 31, are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Amri and K. Hale reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check call at the above address and found the female and male suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced them deceased at the scene.
The male had a gun near his body and a gun holster in his waistband. Investigators learned the female and male had a prior relationship that ended during the summer of 2022. At this time, it has not been determined why the male was at the location.
The investigation is continuing.
At this time the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
