Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 998 East Loop North (East Interstate Highway 610 North) about 7:45 pm. on Sunday (January 9).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer C. Ortega reported:
The driver of a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on the East Loop when he saw the victim walking on the main lanes of the freeway. The driver attempted to avoid hitting the victim but was unsuccessful and struck him. The victim was then thrown over the concrete divider onto the southbound lanes of the freeway, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Ford, who remained at the scene, did not show any signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
