Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 9500 Clearwood Drive about 1:20 a.m. today (Sept. 26).
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer J. Louangpho reported: A black Dodge Charger was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed at the above address when the vehicle veered off the street and struck a light pole. The impact caused the Dodge to roll over and then strike the victim, a pedestrian. It is unknown if the pedestrian was in the street or the crosswalk. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Four persons were inside the Dodge at the time of the crash. Witnesses observed the female driver run from the scene. Officers detained the three passengers for questioning. The investigation is continuing. The driver is being sought for failure to stop and render aid, a felony.
