| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 9200 Tidwell Road about 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday (November 20).
The identity of the deceased male child, 2, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer T. La reported:
The child was a passenger in a white Honda Pilot driven by a 15-year-old male eastbound near the above address. The driver failed to stay in a single lane and went into a steep ditch. The Honda then struck debris in the ditch and came to a stop. The child was not secured in a child seat and received injuries from the crash, but was not ejected.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the child to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver, who was determined not to be impaired, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
