Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 899 Franklin Street about 7:05 p.m. last Friday (September 22).
The identity of the female victim, 19, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer D. Jones reported:
The victim was standing with a group of others on the sidewalk at the intersection of Travis and Franklin. For unknown reasons, the female bent over, lost her balance and fell into the street as a grey Cascadia Freightliner towing a trailer was passing by. She was then struck by the vehicle’s trailer. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop and left the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the female deceased.
