Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8900 Westheimer Road

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 8900 Westheimer Road about 9:20 p.m. on Sunday (June 1).

The identity of the deceased male, 55, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall and Officer N. Duval reported:

Officers with the Memorial Villages Police Department attempted to stop a red Cadillac DeVille traveling southbound on Gessner for a traffic violation when the driver fled and ran several red lights. Memorial Villages turned off their emergency lights and did not pursue the suspect. The suspect then ran a red light at Gessner and Westheimer and struck a vehicle before continuing east on Westheimer. The suspect then ran a red light on Westheimer and struck a white Ford Crown Victoria. The impact with the Ford caused the suspect to crash into a parking lot and the vehicle caught fire.

The suspect was pronounced deceased on the scene by responding paramedics.

The driver and passenger of the Ford sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
