Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in the 8900 block of Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday (May 28).
The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer T. Syed reported:
The driver of a black Volkswagon Passat was traveling southbound at the above address when the driver failed to maintain a single lane and struck the right side barrier. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the driver to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
No other persons or vehicles were involved in this crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
