Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a crash at 8500 Monroe Boulevard about 2:20 p.m. on December 26 has died.
The identity of the victim, 49, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer A. Mares reported: The victim, driving a silver Chevrolet Silverado, was at a stop sign on Scranton Street at the intersection of the above address. When the driver left the stop sign to cross Monroe Boulevard, his vehicle was struck by a red Toyota Scion tC. The impact caused the Chevrolet to roll over and then become engulfed in flames. A third vehicle, a red Chevrolet Camaro, swerved to avoid the crash, went across a median and struck a light pole. Paramedics transported the victim and the male driver of the Toyota to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. Doctors pronounced the victim deceased at the hospital on Tuesday (Dec. 28). A preliminary investigation indicates the drivers of the Scion and Camaro were traveling at high rates of speed and possibly racing each another when the crash occurred. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is continuing. JFC/VHS 12-31-21 Inc #172510721-C
