| Houston police learned a woman critically injured in a crash at 8400 Broadway Street about 5 p.m. on Monday (Feb. 15) has died.
The identity of the victim, 47, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science.
The victim was a front seat passenger in a silver Toyota 4 Runner SUV traveling southbound at the above address where there was ice on the roadway. The SUV swerved on the ice, left the roadway and crashed into a tree on the median. The impact caused the Toyota to roll over and stop in the northbound lanes. The driver and backseat passenger were uninjured; however, the victim was partially ejected and sustained a serious head injury. Paramedics transported the woman to an area hospital where doctors pronounced her deceased this afternoon (Feb. 16).
The driver was questioned and released with no charges filed at this time. The investigation is continuing.
