Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 8300 Almeda Genoa Road about noon on Saturday (June 25).
The identity of the male victim, 39, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer C. Song reported:
The victim was operating a red Yamaha motorcycle westbound at the above address and approaching the intersection of Monroe Road when he was struck by a blue Mercury Marquis. A preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle left a gas station and was attempting to turn onto Monroe Road.
According to witnesses, the vehicle ran the red light and the motorcycle had the green light. The victim was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Mercury fled the scene and did not stop to provide medical assistance.
