Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8200 Westheimer Road at about 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday (February 16).
The identity of the deceased male, 74, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants S. Jewell, F Briones, and Officer D. Jones reported:
A silver Jeep Commander was traveling eastbound at the above address and struck the male, who was crossing the street not in a crosswalk. Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene, was questioned and was found not to be intoxicated. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
