The identity of the victim, 51, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and N. Luu reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, was walking in a crosswalk at the above address when she was struck by a silver Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound.  The male driver – who failed to yield the right of way to a pedestrian – did not stop to render aid and instead parked his vehicle further up the street.  He was later found by patrol officers, was questioned and subsequently charged in the crash.

Paramedics transported the woman to an area hospital in critical condition.  Doctors pronounced her deceased on Saturday (Jan. 23).
