Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7800 South Dairy Ashford about 9 p.m. on Thursday (May 25).
The identity of the male victim, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer P. Ngo reported:
According to witnesses, a Toyota Corolla and a black Honda Accord were traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on South Dairy Ashford. At some point, the Toyota came into contact with the Honda and caused the driver of the Honda to lose control and strike a tree. The driver of the Toyota briefly stopped before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
The passenger in the Honda was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The female driver of the Honda was believed to be ejected from the vehicle and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
