| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7600 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 12:35 a.m. on Sunday (December 15).
The identity of the female victim, 63, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer R. Singleton reported:
The driver of a red Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway and struck the rear of a silver Lexus ES 300. A female passenger in the Lexus was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A second female passenger, 16, in the Lexus was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Impala, who was determined not to be impaired, remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
