Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7590 South Loop West

Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 7590 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 12:55 a.m. today (Jan. 12).

The identities of the deceased male driver, 19, and a male passenger, 16, are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall and Officer R. Singleton reported:

Southeast patrol officers observed a stolen vehicle in the area of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) and Park Place Boulevard. When the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver fled from police at a high rate of speed. The suspect driver refused to stop and began driving on the Gulf Freeway. He attempted to exit the Gulf Freeway onto the 610 South Loop northbound entrance ramp. At that time, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and struck the left barrier, causing the vehicle to roll several times.

The driver and the left back seat passenger were ejected and were pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. The male front passenger, 18, and female back right passenger, 16, were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
