Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a crash at 7500 South Kirkwood Road about 4:40 p.m. on October 20 has died.
The identity of the deceased male, 60, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Westside Patrol Division Officer J. Almaraz reported:
The victim was on a bicycle crossing the southbound lanes of South Kirkwood. Preliminary investigation indicates he failed to yield the right of way and he was struck by a white Lincoln MKZ traveling southbound. The male driver, 34, of the Lincoln remained at the scene and called 9-1-1. He was determined not to be impaired, questioned and released.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the bicyclist to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced the male deceased last Friday (October 25).
The investigation is continuing.
