Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7400 Southwest Freeway about 2:30 a.m. today (April 30).
The identity of the deceased male, 52, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Hudson reported:
The driver of a gray Honda Accord was traveling on the main lanes of the Southwest freeway at the above address when they struck a pedestrian walking northbound in the southbound lanes.
A witness reported the driver attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the pedestrian but the pedestrian moved and was struck. The witness stated the driver of the Accord then pulled over to the left shoulder of the freeway and then reversed and exited the Beechnut/South Gessner exit without stopping to render aid.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male (pedestrian) deceased at the scene.
The vehicle is described only as a gray Honda Accord with blue or black stripes on the hood.
