Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in the 7400 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 7:25 a.m. on Thursday (June 4).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Medrano and Officer R. Bymaster reported:
Officers learned that a utility truck working on the lights underneath the freeway made a sharp turn over a curb and struck a male sleeping on the pavement. The truck initially left the location. The male driver returned when he was advised he that a body was found at the location.
HPD Hit and Run Unit responded to the scene. The driver was questioned and released as the investigation continues.
